Mike Taylor
Managing Director

Mike is the co-founder and Managing Director of Pie Funds. He is the portfolio manager for the Pie Australasian Growth Fund and the Pie Australasian Dividend Fund. Mike reports to the Board of Pie Funds and the Investment Committee.

Prior to starting Pie Funds in 2007, he worked for a number of large financial institutions both domestically and in the UK, including institutional equities dealer for ABN Amro NZ, FX Derivatives, Merrill Lynch UK, and as a Manager for Bank of Scotland NZ, supporting private equity bidders and large property developers with bespoke debt solutions.

In addition, Mike was managing equity portfolios for close friends and family for a number of years before starting Pie Funds. Through this experience, and after a decade of analysing and trading equity markets, Mike has developed his own financial models for fundamental analysis, including a unique investment screening process which utilises a scorecard system (see ‘Pie Funds Investment Screening Process’ on page 10 for more information).

As Fund Manager for the Pie Australasian Growth Fund, Mike has provided clients with a return of over 79.5% (as at 31 August 2011) since inception in December 2007, despite extreme volatility within the global equity markets.*
A very driven person, Mike has a strong aptitude for financial analysis and a passion for investing. He has demonstrated with his existing client base that he has been able to develop trust and has rewarded those who have put faith in him with market out-performance, accountability and good service.
