Ana-Marie Lockyer’s career has taken her from accounting scholarship student to CEO and board director of Pie Funds, with leadership roles across global and New Zealand financial services along the way.
A self-described “numbers person”, Ana-Marie studied accounting and finance at the University of Otago before beginning her career as an accountant. After qualifying, she headed overseas, working first with British Airways and then spending 10 years at Henderson Global Investors in the UK, where she moved from finance into broader commercial leadership roles across the UK and European businesses.
After returning to New Zealand with her family, Ana-Marie spent a decade in funds management, insurance and governance roles through ING, OnePath and ANZ. She later stepped into director and CEO roles across financial services, combining her passion for funds management, KiwiSaver and helping New Zealanders build stronger financial futures.
The profile also reveals the personal experiences that have shaped Ana-Marie’s leadership. In 2019, she suffered a traumatic brain injury that required two brain surgeries and a long recovery. The experience changed how she thinks about health, time and impact. Today, she speaks openly about resilience, intentional living and the importance of leading well without burning out.
Ana-Marie is also deeply passionate about women’s financial wellbeing, a cause shaped in part by being a mother of three daughters. She wants more New Zealanders, particularly women, to feel confident having conversations about money, investing and long-term independence.
Away from work, Ana-Marie finds balance through running, walking, yoga, family time and an annual vineyard run with friends. Her story is one of ambition, perspective and purpose - and reflects the values she brings to Pie Funds: backing great people, focusing on long-term outcomes, and helping clients invest for the future with confidence.
