Pie’s Chairman’s Fund provides a unique way for investors to diversify their Pie portfolio, explains portfolio manager, CEO & Founder Mike Taylor.
The fund is invested across Pie’s seven equity funds, including three closed Australasian funds, with a minimum investment of $500,000.
“These closed funds make up about a third of the Chairman’s Fund investments,” Taylor says.
Investment in the Chairman’s Fund is currently the only way to access Pie’s closed funds.
Investing in seven equity funds provides diversification across different strategies, geographies, and sectors, Taylor says.
“Often investors at Pie invest in one, or maybe two funds. If you’re in Chairman’s, you’ll have less volatility in your returns than if you were in one or two funds.”
This could suit people who are not comfortable with the increased volatility that comes with a higher risk fund.
Experienced portfolio manager
The fund is actively managed by Mike Taylor, who set up Pie Funds in 2007 and has been managing the Chairman’s Fund since he launched it in 2014. Taylor has a wealth of investment experience and is passionate about the Chairman’s Fund offering unique portfolio options for Pie clients.
Flexibility of investment
The fund is reviewed regularly and the weightings can be adjusted where required.
“We can allocate more capital to the regions or funds we think will perform best in the next 6 to 12 months, based on valuations and what we are seeing in the market,” Taylor says.
For example, more capital has been allocated to the Growth UK & Europe Fund lately due to its economic rebound, confidence and sentiment close to all-time highs.
