In part four of our Mid-Year Market Update video series, we hear from Portfolio Manager Mike Ross, based in our Sydney office.
In this video, Ross gives us examples of companies and sectors that we have been reducing exposure to this year, and why. He also shares a case study of a company that he thinks will continue to perform well in the current economic environment.
“The key to surviving bear markets is keeping your head in check,” Ross says.
“As long-term Pie investors know, a lot of our outperformance has come immediately following big market falls. Why? Because of our process,” he says.
“Our bottom-up, detailed approach means we are focused on really understanding businesses and what makes them tick,” Ross says.
“As active fund managers we are constantly thinking about how the funds need to adapt to a dynamic environment.”
So, what have we been doing?
